Sam Caborn is a Senior Lecturer in the School of Built Environment, Engineering and Computing at Leeds Beckett University. He is a Chartered Building Surveyor (MRICS) and Member of the Institution of Fire Engineers (MIFireE), bringing extensive industry experience into his academic role. His teaching focuses on building pathology, construction technology, and commercial management in building surveying.
Sam's research interests lie at the intersection of building surveying and artificial intelligence, particularly in diagnosing building fabric defects. He is currently pursuing a part-time PhD in this domain, exploring how AI can be integrated into professional surveying practice to improve accuracy and efficiency.
The available publication indicates engagement with macroeconomic trends affecting the construction sector, particularly insolvency. This reflects a broader interest in the financial sustainability of the industry alongside technical building performance.
