Salvatore Pedullà

Salvatore Pedullà serves as an Academic Fellow in the Department of Economics, Politics and Decision Sciences at SDA Bocconi School of Management, Bocconi University, leveraging 23 years of frontline United Nations experience in fragile states and conflict zones across the Middle East.

His educational credentials include:

• Master's degree in Social Anthropology and Development Studies from the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE)
• Laurea in International and Diplomatic Relations from the University of Trieste's School of Diplomacy
• Joint-Hons Bachelor's degree in European Studies from LSE, King's College London, and Sciences Po
• Executive Global Fellowship at the Geneva Center for Security Policy

Dr. Pedullà's research concentrates on conflict mediation systems, humanitarian access frameworks, and civil society inclusion mechanisms in peace processes, with empirical focus on Syria where he established the groundbreaking Civil Society Support Room (CSSR). His analytical work bridges diplomatic practice and socio-economic impact assessment, particularly regarding structural reforms in volatile contexts.

As Senior Political Adviser to the UN Special Envoy for Syria, he chairs the Humanitarian Task Force of the International Syria Support Group (24-member coalition) and serves as acting Senior Humanitarian Adviser. His prior UN leadership roles encompass advising the Iraqi Deputy Prime Minister in Baghdad, coordinating Lebanon operations for the UN Special Coordinator, and directing UNRWA regional strategy in Amman.
