Sabine Landau is a Professor of Biostatistics at King's College London's Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology & Neuroscience (IoPPN). She holds a BSc/MSc in Statistics from the University of Dortmund and a PhD from the University of Nottingham. Her primary affiliation is with the NIHR Maudsley Biomedical Research Centre and the NIHR Applied Research Collaboration South London. She leads the Causal Modelling and Evaluation research theme and co-leads the Economics and Biostatistics team in key initiatives like the NIHR Maudsley BRC and the Mental Health Policy Research Unit.
Her research focuses on causal inference methodologies, particularly in evaluating complex interventions for mental health. Notable areas include trials of complex interventions, mediation analysis, and trial emulation using real-world data. She has co-authored influential books such as Cluster Analysis and A Handbook of Statistical Analyses using SPSS.
Landau's work spans clinical trials in eating disorders, dissociative seizures, and mental health policy. Recent studies include the DAISIES trial on anorexia nervosa treatment and the CODES trial on dissociative seizures, both employing rigorous causal analysis. She also investigates telehealth uptake during the pandemic and mental health service adaptations.
Her expertise extends to statistical methodologies for healthcare policy, including cost-effectiveness analyses and rapid evidence synthesis. She collaborates with institutions like the MRC Biostatistics Unit and has served on national committees for research funding and methodology.
