SAW Cheng Lim

SAW Cheng Lim is a Full-time Associate Professor of Law at the Yong Pung How School of Law, Singapore Management University (SMU), holding this position since July 2010. He previously served as Assistant Professor (2002–2010) and Lecturer-in-Law (2000–2002) at SMU. He is also a Senior Fellow at the Intellectual Property Academy of Singapore (since 2010) and a member of its Advisory Panel (2012–2016). SAW holds an LL.M. from the University of Cambridge (2002) and an LL.B. (Second Upper Honours) from the National University of Singapore (1998), becoming an Advocate and Solicitor of Singapore in 1999.

His research focuses on Intellectual Property Law, Technology and Innovation Law, and Cyber Law, with notable works addressing AI's impact on copyright, privacy in nuisance law, and patent ownership in biotechnology. He teaches courses including Business Law, Intellectual Property Rights, and Intellectual Property Law.

SAW has advised on policy matters related to intellectual property and technology. His publications include the book *Information and Communications Technology Law in Singapore* (2020) and over 30 articles in journals like the *Journal of Intellectual Property Law & Practice* and *Singapore Academy of Law Journal*. He advocates legal clarity in emerging technologies and privacy protection in evolving digital contexts.
