TANG Hang Wu

Professor TANG Hang Wu is a Full-time Faculty member and Lee Kong Chian Professor of Law at the Yong Pung How School of Law, Singapore Management University (SMU). He currently serves as Associate Provost (Research Governance) and Deputy Institutional Official for Research. His academic career includes roles as Associate Professor and Assistant Professor at the National University of Singapore (2000–2012), followed by his current position at SMU since 2013.

His research focuses on Property Law, Equity and Trusts, Restitution and Unjust Enrichment, Wealth Management, and Charity Law. He has contributed to landmark publications on constructive trusts, wealth transfer mechanisms, and cross-jurisdictional legal frameworks. His recent work explores adult guardianship law, Islamic legacy planning, and the intersection of charity law with modern philanthropy.

Professor Tang’s articles highlight trends in trust law innovation, equitable remedies in property disputes, and legal adaptations to cultural contexts. He sits on boards such as the Strata Titles Board (2007–2024) and the Special Needs Trust Company (2008–2023). He advises the Attorney General's Chambers Academy and contributes to legal education through courses on Property Law and Equity.

His extensive publications since 2000 reflect expertise in unjust enrichment, trust governance, and legal theory. He actively engages in pro bono initiatives, including roles with the Legal Aid Bureau and Community Foundation of Singapore.
