Ryan W. Sullivan is Associate Professor of Music, Director of Choral Activities, and Coordinator of Vocal Studies at Arkansas State University within the College of Liberal Arts and Communication, Department of Music. He conducts flagship ensembles including the Concert Choir, Jonesboro Chorale, and Singing Statesmen, and teaches courses in conducting and music education.

Dr. Sullivan's research centers on choral conducting pedagogy, historical performance practices, and pre-service music teacher education. His scholarly work explores agency and gender in 17th-century Venetian music and the socio-political messaging in Bavarian court music during the Thirty Years War.
His recent publications and editions appear in the Choral Journal, International Journal for Research in Choral Singing, and the Web Library for Seventeenth-Century Music. These works reflect a strong interdisciplinary trend combining musicology, performance practice, and pedagogy, with increasing focus on historical context and gender dynamics in early music.

He also serves as a consultant for Carus-Verlag, a leading music publisher in Stuttgart, Germany, supporting scholarly editions of historical choral works.
He is actively involved in performance and conducting, leading ensembles nationally and internationally, including recent performances in Portugal and upcoming cultural exchanges in Germany.
