Ruth Wilson is a Senior Lecturer in Learning Disability Nursing at the University of Sunderland. She transitioned from a 30-year clinical career in nursing people with learning disabilities, including roles in residential care, hospitals, and community settings. Her expertise spans working with individuals with complex needs, challenging behaviors, physical disabilities, Autism, and forensic patients.
Teaching responsibilities include Module Leader for the Practice Placement Module and contributions to Health and Sciences/Nursing modules. She has supervised nursing students’ dissertations and contributed to research in Learning Disability Nursing.
Ruth’s career combines clinical practice with academic roles, aiming to support student recruitment and develop the future workforce in learning disability nursing. She is based at the Sciences Complex, University of Sunderland.
