Ruth Stoker is a Senior Lecturer in Journalism at the University of Huddersfield, School of Arts and Humanities, with over 15 years of academic experience since 2006. She currently serves as Director of Strategic Teaching and Learning in the Vice-Chancellor's Office and is a member of the Centre for Participatory Culture. Her career spans roles as a TEF Panellist, QAA Review Coordinator, and external examiner for multiple institutions, including University of Plymouth and Manchester Metropolitan University.

Ruth has published extensively on journalism ethics and education, with recent works exploring AI's ethical use in assessment (2025), differential attainment gaps (2023–2024), and the evolving formats of newspapers. Her publications align with UN Sustainable Development Goals related to quality education and ethical journalism.
