Lindsey Stoker

Lindsey Stoker is Professor of French Horn and Senior Tutor at the Royal Northern College of Music (RNCM) in Manchester. An RNCM graduate herself who studied with Mike Purton and Derek Taylor, she has been teaching at the College since 1990, specializing in French horn instruction, chamber music coaching, and leading the Young Horns Workshop program.

Her professional focus centers on French Horn performance techniques, chamber music interpretation, and brass instrument pedagogy. Stoker has developed specialized teaching methodologies that bridge academic training with professional performance practice. Her work emphasizes technical mastery integrated with musical expression, preparing students for careers in orchestral and chamber music settings.

As an internationally recognized horn specialist, Stoker regularly gives masterclasses across Europe and Asia. She serves as a key figure in the British Horn Society, connecting UK horn players with the global horn community.

Stoker has mentored generations of horn players through her RNCM position and international teaching engagements. She coordinates the RNCM Young Horns program, which develops young horn talent in the Greater Manchester region, and serves as a horn tutor for prestigious organizations including the European Union Youth Orchestra (EUYO), National Youth Orchestra (NYO), and NYO Inspire.

Stoker leads the RNCM Horn Department and coordinates the Young Horns Workshop. She also maintains active chamber music collaborations and serves as Chair of the British Horn Society, positioning her at the forefront of horn education and performance in the United Kingdom.
