Maura McCune Corvington is an Instructor of Horn, Arts Leadership, and Brass Chamber Music at the Eastman School of Music (University of Rochester). She also serves as Secondary Brass Studio Supervisor and ECMS Instructor of Horn. As Second Horn of the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra (RPO) since 2015, she has performed with renowned orchestras including the Houston Symphony and Buffalo Philharmonic. Her teaching extends to the Eastman Community Music School, RPO Youth Orchestra, and summer residencies at Round Top Festival Institute.
She holds a Bachelor’s from Eastman School of Music under W. Peter Kurau and a Master’s from Rice University under William VerMeulen. Her pedagogical contributions include designing 'Studio Teaching: An Essential Career Component' for Eastman’s Arts Leadership Program. Her students have secured placements at top institutions like Juilliard and Curtis, and pursue fellowships such as NYO-USA and New World Symphony.
Corvington’s performances include Grammy-winning recordings (RPO’s Harp Concerto) and solo/clinic engagements at institutions like Cornell and Midwest Young Artists Conservatory. She resides in Rochester with her husband, trumpet player Patrick Corvington.
