Ruth Evans is a Researcher and Postdoctoral Research Associate in Health Psychology at the Wolfson Institute of Population Health, Queen Mary University of London. She holds a BA in Experimental Psychology from Oxford University, an MSc in Health Psychology from Bath University, and a PhD in Health Psychology from UCL/University of London, focusing on the psychological impact of testicular cancer public education.
Her research centers on applying psychological theory to improve health behaviors, healthcare interactions, and intervention design for optimizing health and healthcare delivery. She specializes in cancer prevention/early detection, pediatric and adult healthcare, and critical care (e.g., pediatric intensive care retrieval). Her mixed-methods expertise includes qualitative interviews, experimental studies, and longitudinal/questionnaire-based research.
Current work involves developing tools to enhance cancer awareness and risk reduction strategies for patients following urgent cancer referrals. This builds on her ORCA Study, which assessed future cancer risks and intervention feasibility in such populations. She explores 'teachable moments' in healthcare pathways to improve patient outcomes and early diagnosis.
Ruth’s research bridges psychological theory with clinical practice, aiming to address gaps in patient care and prevention strategies across healthcare settings.
