Dr. Lucy Mitchinson is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Behavioural Science at Queen Mary University of London, affiliated with the Wolfson Institute of Population Health. She works within the Centre for Prevention, Detection and Diagnosis, focusing on healthcare disparities and patient engagement in lung cancer care. Her research integrates qualitative and quantitative methods to address health inequalities, palliative care outcomes, and advanced disease management.
Dr. Mitchinson holds a BSc and MRes in Psychology and a PhD exploring complementary therapies in hospice settings. Her doctoral work developed Core Outcome Sets to standardize evaluations of end-of-life care interventions. She has published on topics including healthcare workers’ experiences during the pandemic, bullying in nursing, and barriers to career progression among minority healthcare professionals.
Her research interests span cancer screening, health service evaluation, and systemic health inequities. She actively contributes to improving healthcare delivery through mixed-methods research and policy-informed interventions.
