Dr Judith Offman is a Senior Lecturer in Cancer Prevention and Early Detection at Queen Mary University of London’s Wolfson Institute of Population Health. She also serves as a Visiting Senior Lecturer at King’s College London (2018–2022). Her research focuses on identifying high-risk populations for cancer and improving early detection methods, particularly for oesophageal cancer and mesothelioma. She co-leads the £5m NIHR Policy Research Unit on Cancer Awareness and collaborates internationally with institutions like CRUK, IARC, and the National Cancer Institute (USA).
Her expertise spans observational and experimental epidemiology, including cohort studies and randomized controlled trials. She has led clinical trials such as BEST3 (Barrett’s oesophagus detection) and currently oversees prostate cancer screening studies like IMPACT. Dr. Offman actively involves patients and the public in research design and collaborates with industry on diagnostic tool development.
Key collaborations include the PRISM project (machine learning for mesothelioma signatures) and work with Imperial College London, University of Warwick, and others. She supervises students Amy Tickle (Cancer Research UK) and Soumya Arun (Barts Charity).
