Dr. Samantha Quaife is a Reader in Behavioural Science at Queen Mary University of London (QMUL), affiliated with the Wolfson Institute of Population Health and the Centre for Cancer Screening, Prevention and Early Diagnosis. She also holds an Honorary Associate Professorship at University College London (UCL). Her academic background includes a BSc, MSc, PhD, and Chartered Psychologist status (CPsychol). She leads major lung screening studies like SUMMIT and the Yorkshire Lung Screening Trial, advises NHS England’s Targeted Lung Health Check Programme, and collaborates internationally with institutions like the National Cancer Institute and American Thoracic Society. Her work focuses on reducing cancer mortality disparities through behavioral science and early detection strategies.
Research interests span psychological aspects of cancer screening, smoking cessation, virtual cancer team meetings, and health inequities. She leads the Cancer Behavioural Science webinar series with KCL and UCL under CRUK’s City of London Centre. Funded by Cancer Research UK, Barts Charity, and others, her projects address implementation challenges in screening and patient decision-making.
