Rebecca Fitzgerald is a Professor of Cancer Prevention at the University of Cambridge and Interim Director of the MRC Cancer Unit. Her research focuses on the early detection of oesophageal and gastric cancers, particularly through molecular phenotyping, genomics, and non-endoscopic diagnostic tools like the Cytosponge. She has held leadership roles including Director of the Early Cancer Institute (2022) and leads the CRUK International Alliance Cancer Early Detection program in Cambridge.
