معرفی
Russell Stoneback is an Assistant Professor of Physics at the University of Texas at Dallas (UT Dallas), affiliated with the William B. Hanson Center for Space Sciences. His primary appointment is in the Department of Physics, School of Natural Sciences and Mathematics. Dr. Stoneback holds an MS (2006) and PhD (2009) from UT Dallas.
His research focuses on ionospheric electrodynamics, space plasma physics, and CubeSat technology. Key themes include electromagnetic wave resonance (e.g., Light Guitar project), thermospheric-ionospheric coupling, and in-situ plasma measurements. He develops Python-based tools like the pysat ecosystem for satellite data analysis and contributes to missions such as the SORTIE CubeSat.
Recent work emphasizes ionospheric dynamics during geomagnetic storms, quasi-2-day wave interactions, and neutral wind-driven dynamo effects. His team also explores acoustic-electromagnetic systems, linking musical instrument design to ionospheric resonance phenomena.
