Rupert Higham

Rupert Higham is an Associate Professor in the IOE - Learning & Leadership at University College London (UCL). He specializes in educational leadership and research focused on student and teacher agency, dialogue-driven education, and addressing global challenges like climate change. His work includes co-leading the CHAMP research group and contributing to projects such as a South African study on whole-child education. Previously, he held roles at the University of Cambridge and taught high-school English.

Dr. Higham teaches on the Applied Educational Leadership MA, a fully online program for global school leaders. He has restructured the program, emphasizing peer learning and global collaboration. His research bridges educational theory and practice, with a focus on dialogue and systemic challenges.

His recent publications explore climate change responses in schools and the ethical dilemmas faced by educators. He actively engages with interdisciplinary teams and advocates for equitable education policies. A Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, he holds a PhD from the University of Exeter.
