Professor Norbert Pachler serves as UCL's Pro-Vice-Provost (Digital Education) and Professor of Education at the IOE, Faculty of Education and Society. His roles include overseeing UCL-wide digital education initiatives, strategic teaching leadership, and international teacher education projects. He has held key leadership positions such as Pro-Director: Teaching, Quality and Learning Innovation (2013-2020) and Pro-Vice-Provost (Quality and Standards) (2022-24). His research focuses on digital technologies in education, mobile learning, teacher professional development, and sociocultural aspects of learning ecosystems.
Professor Pachler's work integrates cultural ecology frameworks with educational technology, emphasizing cross-disciplinary collaboration. He leads initiatives like the London Mobile Learning Group and contributes to global education reforms through projects in the Middle East. His recent work explores lifelong learning adaptation to digital transformation and policy implications of language education. Awards include Principal Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and Fellow of the Academy of Social Sciences.
His advisory contributions span curriculum design, quality assurance frameworks, and formative e-assessment strategies. He actively engages in enterprise education as Vice-Dean: Enterprise at IOE, fostering knowledge exchange and third-stream activities. Pachler's research outputs address critical challenges in technology adoption, pedagogical innovation, and equitable educational access.
