Rui Trindade is an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Psychology and Education Sciences (FPCEUP), University of Porto, and an integrated member of the Centre for Research and Intervention in Education (CIIE). He co-chairs the Pedagogical Teaching and Innovation research group and the Evaluation and Public Policies in Education strategic area at CIIE. He serves as the Portuguese representative on the OECD’s Centre for Educational Research and Innovation (CERI) Governing Board and chairs the Scientific-Pedagogical Council for Continuing Education at the Ministry of Education. He has advised on national education policies, including the National Curricular and Organisational Flexibility Programme.

Research focuses on pedagogical innovation, curriculum studies, higher education pedagogy, and teacher training. Notable projects include:
- "Digital Platforms in School Clusters' Educational Management" (2018–2022), exploring ICT’s role in school clusters.
- "eSGarden" (2019–2022), promoting sustainability through school gardens.
- "Equity through PISA" (2021–2023), analyzing educational disparities.
Advising/Grants: Principal investigator on multiple projects funded by the Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT) and the European Commission. Active in guiding interdisciplinary research teams and policy development.
Labs/Teams: Leads CIIE and OBVIE (Observatory of Life in Schools), fostering collaborative educational research and policy impact.
