Amélia Lopes is a Full Professor at the Faculty of Psychology and Education Sciences (FPCEUP), University of Porto, since 2011. She currently serves as President of the Portuguese Society of Educational Sciences (2024-2027) and Counsellor on the National Education Council (CNE). Her roles include Vice-Director of the Centre for Research and Intervention in Education (CIIE) and coordinator of the Observatory of School Life (OBVIE). She leads the FYT-ID project and has co-PI roles in national and international initiatives like ReKINDLE+50 and EDUCAÇÃO PARA O DESENVOLVIMENTO EM ANGOLA.
Education: Holds an 'Agregação' (2007), PhD (1999), and Degree in Psychology (1987) from FPCEUP. She has also completed the Public Examination of Pedagogical Aptitude (1993).
Research focuses on teaching careers, teacher professionalization, inclusive education, academic identities, digitalization, and doctoral education. Key projects address intergenerational teacher dialogues, climate change adaptation (ClimActiC), and international teacher education (DITE).
Recognition includes the 2023 UP PRIZE for Innovative Pedagogical Practice. She has served on evaluation panels for UK universities, editorial boards, and national/international policy advisory roles.
Lopes coordinates international projects like the OEI Chair in Global Citizenship Education and leads over six Erasmus+ initiatives. Her work emphasizes bridging research and practice, fostering dialogue between generations of educators, and advancing equity in education systems.
