Roxanne Douglas is an Honorary Research Fellow in the Department of English Literature at the University of Birmingham. Her research uniquely integrates feminist theory, World-Literature approaches, and Gothic studies to analyze Arab feminist writing in English translation. She holds a PhD completed in early 2020 and has taught across multiple disciplines including English, Liberal Arts, and Law at the University of Warwick since 2016. A recipient of the Warwick Teaching Award (2018 and 2021), she founded a feminist undergraduate reading group in 2020 and co-organized the 'Women in World-Literature' conference with 200+ delegates. Her current monograph project examines the Gothic as 'critical irrealism' in Arab women’s writing.

Her research interests focus on transnational feminist narratives, gendered historical representations, and intersectional approaches to Gothic studies. She actively bridges literary analysis with decolonial frameworks through publications in Feminist Theory, Journal of Postcolonial Studies, and co-edited volumes on zombie narratives.

She serves on the editorial board of the Journal of International Women’s Studies and collaborates with Prof. Stephen Shapiro on decolonial Gothic projects.
