Brooke Cameron is an Associate Professor in the Department of English at Queen's University. Her research focuses on gender, economics, and horror in nineteenth-century and fin-de-siècle literature. She holds a PhD in English from the University of Notre Dame and has authored/co-edited multiple influential books, including *The Vampire in Nineteenth-Century Literature* (2022) and *Critical Alliances: Economics and Feminism in English Women’s Writing* (2020). Her work explores intersections between literature and societal structures, particularly through vampire narratives and feminist collaborations.
Key research interests include Victorian fiction, gender/sexuality studies, class dynamics, Gothic/horror genres, and transatlantic literary connections. Recent publications analyze vampire archetypes as reflections of Victorian anxieties and feminist reimaginings of economic systems. She has been recognized for teaching excellence at Queen’s University (2015, 2018) and previously at Concordia University.
Brooke collaborates on digital projects like the virtual exhibit *Little Wanderers: British Home Children in Canada*. Her interdisciplinary approach bridges literary analysis with historical and economic contexts, offering fresh perspectives on marginalized voices in Victorian society. Current research extends into children’s literature and the cultural policing of bodies through monstrous ‘Others’ in horror genres.
