Ross Gordon is a Professor of Behaviour & Social Change at UTS Business School, University of Technology Sydney. He also serves as Director of Change for Good at UTS, a Research Centre focused on transdisciplinary behavior and social change. Previously, he was a Professor at Queensland University of Technology (2018-2024) and held roles in the QUT Centre for Justice. He currently holds Visiting Professorships at the University of Wollongong and Coventry University. Ross holds qualifications in marketing, public policy, politics, and history. His research focuses on social issues including climate action, public health, harmful consumption (e.g., gambling, alcohol, tobacco), and equity. He employs interdisciplinary methods like longitudinal surveys, ethnography, and cognitive neuroscience. He has secured over $9.2M in research funding and advised governments and international bodies like WHO and the European Commission. His publications exceed 120 academic works, including the textbook Strategic Social Marketing: For Behaviour and Social Change. Awards include Senior Fellow status (2020) and service on the WHO Technical Advisory Group on Behavioral Insights (2020-2024). Ross has supervised students on topics like energy policy, gambling harm, and public health. His grants include projects on EV transitions, social marketing evidence guides, and human-robot collaborations for health behavior change. He leads the Change for Good initiative and collaborates with NGOs like Energy Consumers Australia. He is an active member of the Australian Association of Social Marketing (former President) and International Social Marketing Association. Beyond academia, he enjoys sports, music, and travel.
