Rosie Read

Dr Rosie Read is a Principal Academic at Bournemouth University, working across social anthropology and sociology. Her research focuses on care work, volunteering, gender, and healthcare systems, emphasizing feminist critiques of undervalued care labor. She leads a NIHR-funded study on community organizations’ health impacts in deprived UK areas and recently completed a British Academy project analyzing pandemic-era home care experiences. Her work intersects with UN SDGs like Gender Equality and Sustainable Cities. She supervises PhD students on topics ranging from UNICEF initiatives to young carers’ experiences. Read holds a PhD in Social Anthropology and is a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
