Dr. Monica Leverton is a Research Fellow at King's College London, affiliated with the NIHR Policy Research Unit in Health and Social Care Workforce and the Policy Institute. She specializes in dementia care, homecare, and social care policy, with a focus on qualitative and ethnographic research methods. Her work bridges academic research and policy, including roles such as chairing the Home Care Research Forum and editorial board membership for BMC Geriatrics.
Education: PhD in Dementia Care from UCL (2021), with a background in psychology and mental health research. She has taught clinical mental health research methods and supervised MSc students.
Research Interests: Her research explores dementia care in home settings, workforce development, and innovative methods like science illustration for co-production. Key areas include Dementia Champions, volunteer involvement in social care, and pandemic impacts on care delivery.
Advising & Grants: Leads projects funded by NIHR, including the DemChamp study defining Dementia Champions' roles and PRO-HEALTH evaluating homecare workers' roles. Collaborates on national initiatives like the NHS Volunteer Responders scheme.
