Rosalie Bélanger-Rioux is a Senior Faculty Lecturer in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics at McGill University. She teaches courses and actively works to support math students and promote equitable practices in mathematics education. Previously, she served as Preceptor and Assistant Director of Undergraduate Studies in Harvard University’s Mathematics Department (2015–2019) and as a Lecturer there (2014–2015). She holds a PhD in Applied Mathematics from MIT (2014) and a BSc in Honours Applied Mathematics from McGill University (2009).
Her research interests emphasize ethical applications of mathematics, diversity in STEM, and fostering inclusive academic environments. She advocates for gender equity in conferences, opposes oppressive surveillance practices, and supports LGBTQ+ mathematicians through her involvement with Spectra. Her career reflects a strong commitment to academic integrity, equity, and the societal responsibility of mathematicians.
Rosalie’s work includes mentoring math majors, coordinating courses, and advancing initiatives related to diversity and inclusion. She has contributed to efforts such as the Just Mathematics Collective and the Montréal Declaration for Responsible AI Development.
