Ronet Bachman is a Professor of Sociology & Criminal Justice at the University of Delaware, affiliated with the College of Arts & Sciences. Her research focuses on violence epidemiology, criminal desistance, and marginalized populations such as women, the elderly, and minorities. She holds a Ph.D. from the University of New Hampshire and has extensive post-doctoral experience in criminal justice research.
Her work investigates the societal causes of violence and the mechanisms behind criminal desistance, with recent studies exploring long-term offender trajectories and victim needs. Notable projects include federally funded research on desistance among criminal justice-involved individuals and state-funded studies on victims of violent crime, particularly homicide victims' families.
