Ronald Francois

Ronald Francois is a Professor of Music and Coordinator of the String Area at Colorado State University’s School of Music, Theatre, and Dance, part of the College of Liberal Arts. He holds a prominent role in classical music performance, education, and ensemble leadership.

His career includes international performances as a violinist with groups like the Mendelssohn Trio and Canadian Chamber Orchestra (IMusici de Montreal), collaborations with renowned musicians, and founding the award-winning Duo Francois with pianist Silvana Santinelli. The Duo’s album Mexico City Blues (2017) earned a Global Music Awards Silver Medal and American Prize Music Awards nomination.

As an educator since 2004, Francois has taught across North America, Mexico, and China, winning the 2013 Outstanding Service Award for Teaching. He mentors students in string performance and coordinates the string program at CSU.

Key collaborations include work with the Guarneri String Quartet, Borromeo String Quartet, and artists such as Daniel Heifetz and Michael Tree. His pedagogical influences include mentors like Zvi Zeitlin and Charles Castleman (Eastman School of Music).

Performance highlights include European and North American tours, solo and chamber recitals, and recordings on Chandos and Itinerant Classics labels. He balances artistic innovation with a commitment to music education and ensemble development.
