Roman PUFF

Roman PUFF serves as a Senior Scientist at the Department of International Law, European Law and Fundamentals of Law within the Faculty of Law and Economics at the University of Salzburg. Dr. PUFF's research focuses on European Union law and international legal frameworks, with particular emphasis on EU integration processes, constitutional dimensions of European law, and the evolving relationship between the EU and Western Balkan states. His scholarly work examines how national constitutions interact with EU legal requirements and how legal systems adapt to contemporary challenges facing European integration.

His publication record demonstrates consistent scholarly output in European legal studies, with recent work addressing the intersection of national constitutional identity and EU integration. His research shows a progression from historical analysis of European public law to contemporary challenges in EU governance and polycrisis management.

Dr. PUFF actively contributes to research projects addressing current EU challenges, including the EU's response to polycrisis situations and the evolving dynamics in EU-Western Balkans relations. He serves as a project manager for POLYCIVIS (Confronting the Polycrisis: An Afro-European Partnership Initiative) and has previously led projects examining EU integration and public law development.

As a Senior Scientist, he participates in departmental activities, contributes to the Journal of Public Law (ZöR), and collaborates with colleagues including Prof. Diane FROMAGE, Prof. Günter HERZIG, and Prof. Paul WEISMANN in advancing research on European legal frameworks and their theoretical foundations.
