Professor Diane Fromage holds the position of Professor of European Law at the University of Salzburg, Austria. She currently serves as Deputy-Director of the Salzburg Centre of European Union Studies (SCEUS) and Principal Investigator for the Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence EUCHALLENGES and the Jubilaümsfonds Project EUSOFTLAW. Previously, she was an Assistant Professor of European Law at Maastricht University and Utrecht University, and a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Fellow at Sciences Po Paris (Law School).
Her research focuses on the Economic and Monetary Union, Banking Union, EU parliamentary systems, and comparative constitutional law. She has conducted extensive work on multilevel governance and accountability within the European Union, particularly through projects like IMPACTEBU, which examined the European Banking Union’s impact on institutional frameworks.
Awardees include the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Individual Fellowship (2020–2022). Her grants include funding from the Horizon 2020 programme for the IMPACTEBU project. She leads collaborative initiatives such as the EUCHALLENGES Centre and has organized workshops on European financial integration.
Prof. Fromage earned her PhD in European Law jointly from the Universities of Pavia (Italy) and Pompeu Fabra (Spain) in 2013. She is affiliated with the European University Institute (Max Weber Fellow) and contributes to interdisciplinary discussions on EU legal frameworks.
