Roger Hanna is an Associate Professor of Theatre and Set Design at Colorado State University (CSU), affiliated with the School of Music, Theatre, and Dance within the College of Liberal Arts. He holds a B.A. in Theater from UCLA and an M.F.A. in Set and Lighting Design from NYU.
His research and professional practice focus on set design for theatre, opera, and dance, with significant contributions across international venues including Japan, Israel, and Europe. Notable projects include collaborations with prominent figures like Laura Alley and Tommy Tune, and his design for Donogoo at the Mint Theatre received critical acclaim and media coverage.
Hanna has taught at institutions such as NYU, Rutgers, and the University of Miami. At CSU, he founded the Summer Study Abroad Program in Theatre for Prague and Berlin, and leads the Set Design Concentration. His teaching includes courses like Set Design I/II and Computer Assisted Drafting for Theatre.
Award highlights include the Lucille Lortel Award and multiple Drama Desk/Henry Hewes nominations. He remains active with United Scenic Artists Local 829 and continues to mentor students in on-campus and off-campus productions.
