Zhanna Gurvich

Zhanna Gurvich is an Instructor of Theatre at Colorado State University's School of Music, Theatre, and Dance within the College of Liberal Arts. She specializes in stage design and scenic artistry, with notable works across theatre, dance, opera, and film. Her academic background includes a B.F.A. in Studio Art from Clark University and an M.F.A. in Stage Design from Southern Methodist University.

Ms. Gurvich’s research and creative practice focus on innovative scenic design, lighting design, and multidisciplinary collaborations. Her designs have been featured at prestigious venues including the Brooklyn Academy of Music, Juilliard Theatre, and Chautauqua Opera. Notable projects include La Llorona (HOLA Award-winning set design), The Seagull, and Hansel and Gretel.

She is a member of United Scenic Artists Local 829 and has contributed to scenic art projects for institutions like Goodspeed Opera House and The Mint Theatre Company. Her professional experience includes both design and painting roles, with acclaimed portraits and murals such as those for Mary Broome and Black Snow.
