Dr. Rodrigo Campos is a Research Associate at the University of York's Department of Politics and International Relations. His work focuses on intersections of religion, security, and far-right politics, particularly analyzing Evangelical influences in Brazilian police and military institutions. He holds a PhD from the University of York (2024), an MA from the San Tiago Dantas Graduate Programme (2017), and a BA from the Federal University of Pampa (2014). His research spans Brazil, Western Sahara, and Egypt, with notable projects including the ESRC-funded study on policing partnerships. He co-directed documentaries addressing Western Sahara independence and Brazilian educational reforms.
Research interests include far-right ideologies, militarism, and global Evangelical activism. His recent work critiques the Bolsonaro regime's environmental policies and explores transnational far-right movements. Teaching roles have included courses on international politics, security theory, and sociological methods at multiple institutions.
Current projects include analyzing military-religious actors in Brazilian security governance and the 'Volunteers and Vulnerabilities' initiative. His publications span academic journals, edited volumes, and translated works on security theory, political philosophy, and Middle Eastern geopolitics. Campos bridges ethnographic fieldwork with critical theoretical frameworks to address contemporary global challenges.
