Rodrigo Nabuco de Araujo is a Lecturer at the University of Reims Champagne-Ardenne, affiliated with the Faculty of Letters and Human Sciences. He holds a CNRS delegation at FRAMESPA UMR 5136 (2023-2024). His research focuses on Latin American political history, particularly military dictatorships in the Southern Cone, French-Brazilian diplomatic relations, and Cold War ideological dynamics.
Education: Master’s and PhD in Latin American Studies and History from the University of Toulouse 2 Le Mirail (2011), followed by a postdoc at the Universidade do Estado do Rio de Janeiro (2015). He has directed departments including Romance Languages (2020-2022) and Applied Foreign Languages (2018-2020). He co-leads the Images Seminar at CIRLEP and serves on editorial boards for Ordinaire des Amériques and Savoirs en Prisme.
His work examines transnational right-wing intellectual networks, French military diplomacy in Brazil (1956-1974), and the cultural dimensions of political repression. Recent publications include Diplomats in Uniform (2022) and studies on Brazilian conservative thought and Cold War intelligence cooperation.
Research interests span Cold War security doctrines, the representation of dictatorships in cinema, and the role of military institutions in shaping political narratives. He collaborates internationally on projects analyzing anti-communist discourse and transnational ideological exchanges between Brazil and France.
