Carlos Benítez Trinidad is a historian and researcher at the University of Salamanca's Department of History, within the Faculty of Geography and History. He holds a PhD from the Universidad Pablo de Olavide (2017), focusing on the representation of Indigenous peoples during Brazil's civil-military dictatorship (1964-1985). His research specializes in contemporary history, with a focus on Indigenous studies, Latin American history, and the intersection of colonialism and military regimes. He has contributed to projects like HISTAGRA (Agrarian and political history of the rural world) and co-edited books such as Entre miradas y silencios: metodologías de investigación en la historia indígena contemporánea (2024).
His work explores the political and cultural dimensions of Indigenous representation in Brazil, analyzing how state policies, military dictatorships, and transnational activism shaped Indigenous identities. Key publications include studies on the Brazilian Indigenous Movement's Imaginary (2024), the role of humor in resistance (2024), and the Amazonian Alliance for Common Lands (2022).
