Dr. Robin Cameron is a Senior Lecturer at RMIT University’s School of Global, Urban & Social Studies, specializing in Justice and Legal Studies. As Program Manager of the Bachelor of Criminal Justice, he focuses on strengthening the program’s academic and disciplinary standing. Previously, he held roles as Program Manager of Human Security & Natural Disasters research and Research Fellow in Global & Language Studies. His research explores digital criminology, masculinity and extremist violence, and the integration of global security discourses into local social control mechanisms.
- Education: Prior academic roles include lecturing at La Trobe University, The University of Melbourne, and Deakin University.
- Professional Affiliations: Member of the American Society of Criminology, Australian and New Zealand Society of Criminology, and other global academic associations.
- Industry Experience: Conducted commissioned reports for Victoria’s Department of Premier and Cabinet and Our Watch, focusing on gender-based violence prevention through sport.
His research interests span digital criminology, terrorism studies, critical security theory, and human security. Notable projects include analyzing far-right politics on social media and the role of media in extremist violence. He supervises PhD and master’s students in areas like cyber-security, urban protest, and global crime.
