Roberto Camerani is an Associate Professor in Economics of Innovation at the Science Policy Research Unit (SPRU) within the University of Sussex Business School. He holds a PhD in Science and Technology Policy from SPRU, an MSc in Innovation and Industry Analysis from SPRU, and a BSc in Economics from Bocconi University. His research focuses on innovation diffusion, creative/digital industries, user-driven innovation, science-policy indicators, and corporate publishing.
Key projects include leading the Clusters and Innovation strand in the Creative Industries Policy & Evidence Centre (AHRC-funded 2018-2023), coordinating firm-level datasets in RISIS2 (EU Horizon 2020 2019-2023), and investigating STEM-art fusion effects (Nesta 2015-2016). He co-directs the Strategic Innovation Management MSc and edits the Journal of Engineering and Technology Management.
Teaching responsibilities include modules on Creative Economy Innovation, Cultural Industries Entrepreneurship, and Intellectual Property Management. His work spans over 25 peer-reviewed publications analyzing corporate publishing, innovation ecosystems, and policy impacts in creative sectors.
