- Artistic investigations of popular culture and speculative fiction
Publications consistently examine material culture through transdisciplinary lenses, with recent work analyzing cultural hauntings, nuclear heritage, and artistic methodologies. His articles demonstrate persistent themes of collaboration, historical excavation, and environmental interpretation.
Awards include Henry Moore Scholarship and Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. He has supervised multiple PhD students to completion on topics ranging from art-environment relationships to chronic pain communication. Major funded projects include Cumbrian Alchemy, an Arts Council England-supported exploration of nuclear landscapes. Collaborations extend to international artist collectives and research networks examining material culture through contemporary art practice.
