Robert Sobak is Associate Professor of Classics at Bowdoin College, specializing in Classical Greek social history, Athenian labor studies, and narratological approaches to ancient texts. His research examines marginalized populations in ancient societies through interdisciplinary methodologies combining archaeology, literature, and material culture.

His scholarship focuses on reconstructing everyday life in democratic Athens, challenging elite historical narratives through analysis of visual artifacts and literary sources. Current book projects explore labor representation in Athenian pottery and Pindar's construction of Greek identity.
