Robert Rainbird is an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Earth Sciences at Carleton University, part of the Faculty of Science. His research focuses on Proterozoic sedimentary basins in Canada, employing detrital zircon geochronology and isotope geochemistry for regional correlation and continental reconstruction. He also specializes in satellite imagery applications for geological mapping in non-vegetated terrains like the Canadian Arctic. His current NSERC-funded research examines early oxygenation of Earth's atmosphere through sedimentary evidence.
