Robert O. Self is the Mary Ann Lippitt Professor of American History at Brown University, specializing in 20th-century U.S. history, urban politics, and transformations since World War II. His research explores intersections of social movements, gender/sexuality politics, and the state, with a focus on postwar America. Key works include American Babylon (2003) and All in the Family (2012), both award-winning studies of urban race relations and political realignment.
