Charles Postel is a Professor of History at San Francisco State University, specializing in U.S. political and social history. He focuses on the interplay between political ideas and society, particularly in 19th- and 20th-century movements. His research emphasizes the Populist movement, Reconstruction, and struggles for racial, gender, and class equality. Postel has written extensively on topics like populism, conservatism, and the Gilded Age.
