معرفی
Robert Davey is a Professor of Virology, Immunology & Microbiology and Interim Director of the National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories (NEIDL) at Boston University's Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine. He holds a PhD from the University of Adelaide and has extensive postdoctoral training at the Howard Hughes Medical Institute and Harvard Medical School. His research focuses on hemorrhagic fever viruses, including Ebola, Marburg, Lassa, and Nipah, with an emphasis on developing small molecule-based treatments and understanding viral entry mechanisms.
Dr. Davey's work utilizes BSL4 facilities at the NEIDL to study high-risk pathogens. His lab employs high-throughput screening and systems biology approaches to identify host proteins critical for viral infection, aiming to disrupt these interactions for therapeutic development. He has held leadership roles, including Interim Chair at the Texas Biomedical Research Institute and Director of ABSL4 facilities.
His research spans antiviral drug discovery, host-pathogen interactions, and collaborative studies with institutions like the Texas Biomedical Research Institute and Scripps Research. Dr. Davey's team has contributed to high-impact publications in Science, PNAS, and PLoS Pathogens, focusing on viral entry inhibitors and host factor dependencies.
Current and past grants include NIH-funded projects on filovirus inhibitors, SARS-CoV-2 treatments, and antiviral lead identification. His interdisciplinary approach integrates molecular biology, cell biology, and pharmacology to combat emerging viral threats.
