University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonioمعرفی
Robert Davey is an Adjunct Professor at Texas Biomedical Research Institute, affiliated with Boston University. He holds the Ewing Halsell Scholar and Scientist position within the Department of Virology and Immunology. His research focuses on identifying cellular factors critical for filovirus and bunyavirus infections, particularly Ebola virus. Dr. Davey’s work emphasizes viral entry mechanisms and cell signaling pathways, with breakthroughs in high-throughput screening for antiviral compounds. His team operates in ABSL4 facilities, specializing in advanced molecular and cell biology techniques for pathogenic virus research. Notably, his research on Ebola virus inhibitors has been featured in high-impact journals like Science and PNAS. Collaborative projects include drug testing for viral inhibition and vaccine development.
Education and career highlights include prior roles at Harvard Medical School (Instructor in Medicine), University of Texas Medical Branch, and a Ph.D. in Integrated Biomedical Sciences. His lab develops novel antiviral strategies, including nanobodies and stapled lipopeptides. Current projects target SARS-CoV-2 and Ebola virus pathogenesis, leveraging cellular network analysis and pharmacological screening.
Research interests span antiviral drug discovery, viral entry mechanisms, and host-pathogen interactions. His team’s contributions include identifying host factors like CAPG and Retro-2 derivatives as therapeutic targets. Ongoing work explores universal vaccine designs and viral particle production regulation. Collaborations span academic and industry partners to advance translational research in infectious diseases.
