Dr. Marceline Côté is a Professor in the Department of Biochemistry, Microbiology and Immunology at the University of Ottawa's Faculty of Medicine. She serves as Director of the Centre for Infection, Immunity and Inflammation (CI3), where she leads research on host-pathogen interactions during emerging viral infections.
- BSc from Université de Sherbrooke (2004)
- PhD from McGill University (2009)
- Postdoctoral Fellowship at Brigham and Women's Hospital & Harvard Medical School
Her research focuses on identifying host proteins critical for viral infection by filoviruses (Ebola, Marburg), arenaviruses (Lassa fever), and coronaviruses (SARS-CoV, SARS-CoV-2, MERS). Using virological, chemical biology, and genetic approaches, she investigates viral entry pathways and develops antiviral therapeutics targeting host factors.
Recent publications highlight her work on SARS-CoV-2 entry mechanisms, filovirus trafficking, and diacylglycerol kinase inhibition as an antiviral strategy. Her lab explores how pathogens exploit endosomal phosphoinositides and intracellular vesicular trafficking systems.
