Robert Black, MD, MPH, is a Professor at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, affiliated with the Department of International Health and the Division of Global Disease Epidemiology and Control. He is a leading expert in maternal and child health, nutrition, and infectious diseases in low- and middle-income countries, with extensive research and policy influence globally.
His research interests include international health, diarrhea, pneumonia, malaria, malnutrition, zinc supplementation, health policy, and the evaluation of public health interventions. He has conducted pivotal epidemiological studies and clinical trials on nutritional interventions and vaccine efficacy, significantly contributing to child survival strategies. His work is central to global health initiatives such as the Lancet Series on Maternal and Child Nutrition and the Countdown to 2030.
The trends in his recent publications reflect a sustained focus on child growth faltering, stunting reduction, anemia, and wasting treatment, with a strong emphasis on evidence-based policy.
