Wafaie W. Fawzi is the Richard Saltonstall Professor of Population Sciences and Professor of Nutrition, Epidemiology, and Global Health at Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health. He has served as Chair of the Department of Global Health and Population (2011–2018) and leads the Nutrition and Global Health Program. His research focuses on nutritional interventions, maternal/child health, and global health equity, with over 500 publications. He is a National Academy of Medicine member and founder of initiatives like the Africa Academy of Public Health.
Education: MBBS (Medicine, University of Khartoum, 1986), MPH (Harvard Chan, 1989), MS (Maternal & Child Health, Harvard Chan, 1991), DrPH (Epidemiology & Nutrition, Harvard Chan, 1992).
Research Interests:
- Impact of nutritional interventions on global health threats
- Food systems and climate change
- Policy translation for maternal/child health
- Implementation science in Africa/Asia
Grant Leadership: Principal Investigator for NIH-funded training programs in global health research, including data science for African priorities and Tanzania HIV/AIDS research.
Awards: Elected member of the National Academy of Medicine (2020).
Labs/Initiatives: Leads Nutrition and Global Health Program; co-founded ARISE Network and CHAN (China-Harvard Africa Network).
