Dr. Christopher Sudfeld is an Associate Professor of Global Health and Nutrition at Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health. His work focuses on maternal and child health in resource-limited settings, particularly the interplay between nutrition and infections. He leads three core research programs: randomized trials of interventions, observational studies on early-life nutrition and long-term development, and capacity-building in epidemiology/biostatistics for partner institutions.
He is affiliated with the Department of Global Health and Population and collaborates with global partners in Tanzania, India, Malawi, and Liberia. His research addresses critical gaps in understanding how nutritional deficits and infections impact child growth, development, and human capital outcomes. Recent work includes developing risk assessment tools for neonatal readmissions and evaluating micronutrient supplement efficacy in low-income populations.
Dr. Sudfeld has secured NIH grants as a co-PI, including R01AI175348 for trials on zinc supplementation in infants with severe infections. His studies frequently involve large-scale cohort analyses and systematic reviews, contributing to evidence-based global health policies.
