L. Rick Hilborn is a faculty member at Cairn University's School of Music, teaching since 2023. He earned a BS in Music Education and two MM degrees (Percussion Performance and Music Theory) from West Chester University, alongside a distinguished career in music education and band directing.
Hilborn has served as a district president of the Pennsylvania Music Educators Association (PMEA) and received the PMEA Citation of Excellence in 2009. His ensembles earned invitations to All-State, All-Eastern, and National Conferences during his 39-year tenure in Pennsylvania school districts.
He was selected for the 'Band of Band Directors' in the 2022 Rose Bowl Parade and honored as Cavalcade of Bands 'Director of the Year' in 2023. Hilborn remains active in the Allentown Band and as an assistant conductor of the Nazareth Area Community Band.
