Rachel Skilone is an Adjunct Professor of Music Education at Duquesne University’s Mary Pappert School of Music and serves as a 5th and 6th grade band director in the Bethel Park School District. She is actively engaged in music education both in K–12 settings and higher education, contributing to student teacher mentorship and professional development.

Rachel's research and professional interests focus on assessment and evaluation in middle school band programs. She has presented her work on grading systems within group lesson settings at the Thompson Symposium, the Pennsylvania Music Educators Association (PMEA) state conference, and professional development workshops at Carnegie Mellon University and Grove City College. Her teaching philosophy emphasizes structured evaluation, student engagement, and practical music performance.
Rachel is a dedicated member of several professional organizations, including the Nu Chapter of Phi Beta Mu International Bandmasters Fraternity, the National Band Association, and the Pennsylvania Music Educators Association. She currently serves as the Fest Coordinator for District 1 with PMEA, supporting the organization of elementary and junior high music festivals.

Rachel advises student teachers as a cooperating teacher at Duquesne University, playing a vital role in the training of future music educators. While she does not hold major research grants, her contributions to curriculum development, summer band camps, and professional workshops reflect sustained educational outreach. She also teaches private clarinet lessons and has directed woodwind sections for the Bethel Park and Baldwin-Whitehall marching bands.
Rachel leads summer band camps for students in grades 5–8 in Bethel Park and remains deeply involved in local and state-level music education initiatives, bridging school and university communities through mentorship and service.
